Welcome to Transito. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the app. By using Transito you agree to the practices described here.

We collect information you provide directly:

  • Profile information — your name, handle, bio, and optional avatar photo.
  • Journey data — routes, transport modes, distances, departure and arrival points, and any notes you add.
  • Location data — only while you are actively recording a journey. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Device information — operating system and app version, used to diagnose technical issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Display your journeys, statistics, and milestone progress within the app.
  • Provide the social features of the app, such as the journey feed and follower connections, if you choose to use them.
  • Improve the app by understanding how features are used in aggregate.
  • Send optional push notifications about activity on your profile. You can disable these at any time in your device settings.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Journeys and profile information you mark as public are visible to other Transito users. Journeys you keep private are visible only to you.

We share data with the following service providers solely to operate the app:

  • Clerk — handles authentication and secure sign-in. See clerk.com/privacy for their policy.
  • Our hosting provider — stores app data on secure servers.

4. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and journeys are permanently removed within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised statistics derived from your data may be retained longer for service improvement purposes.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Transito is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the app after any change constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
